Unique Juneau Tours

Meet Your Your Local Juneau Tour Guide

As a lifelong Alaskan I can provide unique tours in Juneau Alaska. I have lived in Anchorage, Fairbanks, Nome and now Juneau. I worked for the State of Alaska for 30 years and retired in Juneau. I have been doing tourism activities for the last two summers. I love Alaska and have a passion for sharing the “Great State” with others.

Jeff Hoover - Local Tour Guide

I have had several seasonal positions all related to tourism. I have been a Juneau Ambassador, a title for a city employee who provides maps and information to cruise ship passengers; I have driven a Pedi-cab around downtown Juneau providing historical information and fun facts about Alaska’s capitol city; and I have driven Uber and Lyft around Juneau by providing enhanced transportation rather than just driving someone from point A to point B.

Unique Juneau Tours for Cruise Passengers, Tourists & Locals

I mostly cater to cruise ship passengers since Juneau receives over 1.6 million cruise ship passengers each summer. The cruise ship season runs approximately from the middle of April to the middle of October. I have also given tours to independent tourists and locals. I can provide recommendations to other Juneau businesses if looking for other services.

I have also given rides/tours to our local grocery stores, Fred Meyers and Foodland, and various boat harbors around Juneau. At this time, I do not have any set tours, but I customize the driving tour based on your time availability and your interest. Most cruise ship passengers have 2 to 3 hours available, and most visitors want to see the Mendenhall glacier and the thousands of salmon returning to the DIPAC salmon hatchery.

I charge $75/hour from 1-4 guests, $85/hour 5-6 guests, and if there are over 6 guests then please contact me for more information. I can and will accompany you to some attractions (e.g., DIPAC fish hatchery, National Shrine of Therese, etc.) or I can drive you one way to an attraction (e.g., Mendenhall glacier) and leave you for an hour or two to explore on your own. I can pick you up from an attraction at a set time and return you to your cruise ship or hotel. All my tours include historical information and fun facts about Juneau. All the tour details are flexible, and I generally transport 2 to 6 people in my Subaru Ascent with a sunroof. If your group is larger than 6 people, then I can arrange for another tourist driver to accompany us.

I generally do unique tours in Juneau’s summer months (mid-April to mid-October), and I have many word of mouth referrals. Juneau is a small town (appx. 32,000 people) and people’s reputation is formed quickly and strongly. I am starting a website in 2025, so I can capture testimonials and customer reviews, provide contact details, and allow customers to request a tour. I look forward to hearing from you and showing you my favorite Alaska city, Juneau.
